Sunday’s Scripture: Praying for the Grandchildren

(I want to know which Scriptures you personally are praying for your grandchildren. It will be my privilege to share these verses with everyone on subsequent Sundays. If you choose to briefly explain why you choose the verses you do, or have a short testimony concerning the verses, please share!)

I’m enjoying hearing from grandparents about specific scripture they pray for their grandchildren. So encouraging to me. This week’s passage is found in the book of Ephesians…a prayer that we have prayed for many people over the years.

“For this reason I kneel before the Father, from whom his whole family in heaven and on earth derives its name. I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge — that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.

Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.” Ephesians 3:14-21

    I have not been using a particular scripture. I have just prayed that God would keep them safe and bless them with all they should have and grow to be all they should be. I’ll have to consider a scripture.

      Denise, I would love to hear which scriptures you consider! I find it so helpful to pray God’s words back to Him… but I do pray for safety and blessings as they grow into the godly ones he will use for his glory! Thanks for commenting!!

    I love the inspiration in your posts, but like Denise (above) I just pray for grandchildren from the heart. My friend asks Our Lord to “Keep them healthy, happy, holy and close to God.” I use that prayer too!

      Joyce, I, too, pray along the lines of your friend… it is certainly my desire that the grandchildren stay close to God. I often pray simple heartfelt prayers for them. But I love to pray scripture for them as well!
