Sunday’s Scripture (May 17)

Sunday's Scriptures
“That’s mine.”

“What? No, thanks. I don’t want to _____ [insert any chore].”

“Do I have to share?!”

One grandmother prays specifically that her grandchildren will grow up to be helpful, generous, caring adults…by exhibiting those attitudes and habits even as children. Of course, the grandparents and parents need to model this behavior so that the children can actually see that this is important even in the lives of those they love and respect.

As Paul charged young Timothy:

“Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share. In this way they will lay up treasure for themselves as a firm foundation for the coming age, so that they may take hold of the life that is truly life.” 1 Timothy 6:18-19

Wise counsel. And sound advice for each one of us to consider.

(And please continue to send me Scripture that you pray for your own grandchildren. We are all in this together!!)

Have a grand day!

“Helpful, generous and caring”….what a bounty of wealth this grandmother will bestow through her prayers! Those are the people who live the happiest lives, satisfied with what they have, attracting others just like themselves. This is a lovely message for those of us (who me?) who might get caught up praying for academic and material success for grandchildren. That’s backwards!

I love that we’re all in this together…reminding each other or encouraging each other or inspiring each other through the prayers for our grandchildren. And there’s NOTHING wrong with praying for academic and material success — I would add to THAT prayer that they would have the wisdom to use their success wisely, and for His glory!
