Sunday’s Scripture (June 21)

Sunday's ScripturesI’m back. Sorry to have been away from this site for so long, but it’s just the way it’s been. I am so thankful for the encouragement of you sweet readers and friends who have kept me in prayer, as well as my family.

My mom is holding her own and I returned to Maryland to be able to pick up my husband when he arrived from Ukraine. As has been the case all summer, my plan was not at all how it turned out. BUT, he is here and we are together.

Since I last wrote, our son and his family also ventured to Cincinnati to spend time with Mom and to introduce her to her youngest grandchild — 14-month-old Solomia. Sweet moments. I hitched a ride back to Maryland with them. A special thanks to daughter-in-law Dasha who sat squished between two car seats in the back so that I could be spoiled in the front.

My husband Jim and I will arrive in Cincinnati again this weekend so that she can call him Sweetheart in person and not just on skype. (Have I mentioned how much I appreciate the technology available to keep us all connected??!!)

And now today is Father’s Day. Missing my own dad terribly and thankful for his legacy in my life. If you’d like to better understand why I am who I am…well, here’s an earlier post written about my dad.

Today’s scripture, in honor of the day, is the Lord’s prayer. There is no father like Our Father.

Our Father, who art in heaven. Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory. Forever and ever. Amen.
