Sunday’s Scripture (July 19)

Sunday's ScripturesA truly great resource for specific ways to pray for our grandchildren is the book A Grandmother’s Prayers by Kay Swatkowski. I know I have promoted this in an earlier blog, but it can bear repeating.

One of the prayers recommended is that we find natural opportunities to share stories of ways God has cared for us personally, even when we were unaware. This makes our talk and our walk so much more valid in the eyes of our grandchildren — they need to hear these truths in our own lives, not simply become aware of how God worked in the Bible…as awesome as that is!…so that they will begin to recognize God working in their young lives. Scripture encourages us to tell of His deeds!!

“Come and hear, all you who fear God; let me tell you what he has done for me.” Psalm 66:16

What a beautiful idea – to share blessings that were bestowed on us as positive answers to prayer! Just today I was told by a daughter how much of an impact I have on the children; how learning things from me has delighted them. I will begin to share my personal stories of prayer with them now too, hoping for lifelong influence!
