Friday fun (May 15)

Friday funIt’s that time of the week again…time to post some Friday fun!

Well, the weather must be warming up all over because so many ideas were posted for outdoor water play this week.

Obvious simple fun…water balloon fights, running through sprinklers, pools. Most of us can remember those simple delights, and I look forward to sharing the laughs and shrieks with my grandchildren this summer brought on by bursting water balloons and cold water sprinklers.

I love these two new-to-me ideas, and with a little help from the parents involved, I hope to see these put into action this year!

Make a water wall with your grandchildren! I am really looking forward to observing the problem-solving creativity as the boys think this through!! (The girls are still too young to think through the challenge, BUT they will love to splash in the water!!

How to make a leak-proof water blob!

Both great ideas! I don’t play outside water games with the grandkids here because their own homes have better set ups. My daughter has made the “water blob” though, and it was a huge success. I think she will appreciate the link for making one with an iron. Her tradition is to host a last day of school party for her kids’ neighborhood friends and classmates – all kinds of water slide, bounce house and relay games and activities. I love being invited to them!

I think I want to live in YOUR neighborhood! Between you and your daughter, so much fun for everyone. I actually won’t be able to use the blob at our own place, but am hoping that when I watch the kiddos from time to time at THEIR homes that a blob might be there!! I think I can do the water wall, though…I can’t wait to watch their minds go to work on how to get the water to end up in a specific spot!!

I love the idea of a water wall! I’d love to see how yours turns out. Never thought of that one. We have done the water blob and it is really fun. BUT our favorite ever water time sport has to be Super Soakers — or the inexpensive kind you find in the dollar bin at Target! We only have one rule — if someone has a camera in their hands they are off limits! I have spent many days wet!

This just may be the summer for investing in Super Soakers… Love the rule that the cameraman is off limits!!

I will surely document the making of the water wall. I’m guessing that once they get the idea of redirecting the water flow that things will move pretty quickly. LOVE watching their faces as their minds go to work to solve a challenge!
